„Generation Praktikum“ was founded in Austria in 2006. The platform is a registered association and consists of several university (post)graduates from various disciplines.
The activities of the platform are the following:
-
scientific research to analyse internships (legal and structural employment issues)
-
promotion of networking activities of interns (eg.: get togethers, discussions, information events)
-
lobbying (negotiations with politicians, union representatives, stakeholders and other inititatives)
-
events ...
Generation Praktikum wants to achieve:
- fair conditions for students who do internships (internship must be contractually guaranteed and has to take social security into consideration, etc.) – no internships for (post)graduates
- special entry job programmes for (post)graduates
In 2007 the platform has published a study (title: “Arbeit ohne Wert?) concerning structural characteristics of the internship labour market in Austria.
Generation Praktikum is also a member of the network “Generation P”.
